Kukkantsunk bele szüleink vagy nagyszüleink családi fényképalbumaiba, és valószínűleg meglepődve fogjuk látni, mennyire soványnak néznek ki felmenőink. A nők valószínűleg 36-os méretű ruhát viseltek, a férfiak 82 cm-es derékmérettel büszkélkedhettek. A túlsúlyt csupán néhány kilogramm jelentette, az elhízás rendkívül ritka volt. Túlsúlyos gyermekek? Szinte soha nem voltak. 110 cm-es derék? Nem létezett. 90 kilós tinédzserek? Természetesen ők sem voltak.
